On 16th May, Shadow was invited to exhibit the Shadow Dextrous Hand at the 5th Zeitgeist Europe. Zeitgeist is a Google partner forum aimed to gather participants from different backgrounds to create stronger business relationships.
Shadow was pleased to attend as a representative of British Innovation, along with other innovators from around the world. The first day of the forum showed innovative products and technologies that are currently transforming the world.
The forum was followed by 3 days of workshops and conferences with guests such as the Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt and Co-Founder Larry Page, in an event that brought 350 people from different nationalities.
We had a great time since many people who had not seen the Hand before were amazed by the similarity to their hands and its capabilities.

The leg was made for the Shadow Robot Company as part of a contract from North Carolina A & T University. prototype by David Buckley - 2005. Prototype mainly made in mdf Final version mainly Acetal and Aluminium. Some photos show wooden dummy pulleys while awaiting Aluminium ones.
A top interior design company contacted Shadow with an unusual commission: to produce intelligent moving furniture for a London penthouse. The furniture had to be able to move along complex paths, whilst being completely safe for the user.
The Energy Project is a site specific installation that snakes up the 100ft boilerhouse chimney at Stoke Newington School. A bespoke computer programme reads the levels of video and audio content produced by students in Year 9 and this affects the behaviour of 45 light panels with over 9000 LEDS.
