Tactile sensor Range
The Shadow Tactile Sensor is an integrated touch sensing solution
for robotics, prosthetics and machinery. The sensor uses Quantum
Tunnelling Composite (QTC) as the sensing medium which gives it
response from the lightest touch up to heavy loads. Embedded
electronics allows the user to actively control the range and
sensitivity. The sensor has an unrivalled range, allowing plenty of
useful feedback for control of manipulation tasks.
Tactile Sensor Development Kit
The Development Kit contains everything you need to understand the
use of the Tactile Sensor in your application, as well as to modify
the Sensor for your own designs.
- TS34F 34-tactel fingertip
- RS-232 Interface for TS34F
- RS-232 cable
- Programmer for embedded electronics
- IDE for embedded electronics
- Source code for on-board firmware
- Universal power supply and cable
- All necessary documentation
Features of the Tactile Sensor
- Supplied as standard in finger and thumb form factors, for ease of use in humanoid robotics projects.
- Supplied in two sizes, 34 or 22 tactels, allowing various sizes of manipulator to use the sensor.
- Tactels are packed on a 3.3mm spacing, evenly distributed across the surface, for uniform coverage and ensuring no insensitive regions.
- Tactels are sensitive from 0.1N to more than 100N, effectively combining a low-force sensor and a high-load sensor in one unit.
- Custom sensors can be built in almost any form factor needed.
