For our new FPGA / Embedded Systems Engineer role, you would be joining a very well established and growing Research and Development team made up of electronics, mechanical and software engineers.

You will be responsible for:

Implementing soft CPUs in multiple different FPGAs

Researching and implementing novel communication architectures

Designing and building printed circuit boards.

Analysing and debugging communication architectures.

Implementing robotic control systems

Writing user API documentation

Writing technical documentation

Writing tests

Your skills and experience will include many of the following:

Verilog, C, C++, Python.

Design/Specification/Execution of hardware testing and performance validation.

Soft CPUs, digital communication, error correction, writing tests, version control.

Altium experience ideally, or other similar.

Schematic design and PCB lay out.

Surface mount PCB assembly and rework.

Solid understanding of networks or buses and transmission lines.

Use of oscilloscopes, logic analysers, etc. for debugging.

Excellent production code and documentation quality

ECAD software.

Understanding of Design for Manufacture.

We have some nice-to-have skills and experience which would be helpful:

Working with suppliers and manufacturers to optimise products.

Implementing robotic control systems.

Experience with Lattice devices is useful.

Specifying components.

Please note:

The role requires someone with plenty of FPGA experience and is not suited to a recent graduate due to the level of expertise needed.

Job title: FPGA / Embedded Systems Engineer

 

Department: R&D Team

 

Based: Gospel Oak, London (about 2 min walk from the station)

 

Salary: £62,000 to £67,000 (depending on your experience)

 

Start date: Jun 2025 (or sooner)

 

Contract: 2 year fixed term contract as PAYE

Package includes 28 days holidays + bank holidays ,flexible hours (Monday to Friday) together with a fantastic team and work environment in North London (30 mins by Tube from Kings Cross or a 3 min stroll from Gospel Oak Overground station).
