Shadow Robot Company wins place at UK’s leading innovation show

The Shadow Robot Company from London has won a place in an exhibition of the most game-changing innovations from businesses across the country at the UK’s leading innovation show in November.

Shadow are one of 100 companies nationwide to be selected to exhibit its innovation to over 2,500 businesses at Innovate 2017 on November 8th and 9th at the NEC, Birmingham.

The Shadow Robot Company was founded in 1987 by a group of robotics enthusiasts in London. The group has since evolved into one of the longest-running robotics companies in the UK, developing dexterous robotics manipulation technologies (“hands for robots”) and using them to solve real-world problems. They’ll be exhibiting an early version of their Smart Grasping System™ – an intelligent, industrial grasper, aimed at the manufacturing industry. Currently in development, with further developments expected over the coming year, the Smart Grasping System will feature built-in intelligence and vision, meaning that you can use one robot to perform the work of many robots, thus reducing the amount of robots needed in a factory.

Manager Director of Shadow, Rich Walker, says “We’re over the moon to be selected to demonstrate at Innovate 2017. This is the second year in the row that we’ve won a place, which is a great compliment, as well as being an indicator that our work is resonating with companies around the world. Innovate 2017 is a must-attend event, we’re really looking forward to meeting other delegates and discussing potential opportunities.”

The annual innovation showcase organised by Innovate UK brings the brightest and boldest UK innovators together to inspire businesses, individuals and government to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.

Innovate UK Chief Executive, Dr. Ruth McKernan said: “Innovate 2017 will be an ideal platform for the Shadow Robot Company to showcase their game-changing innovation to national and international businesses and investors. I congratulate Shadow on their success in winning a place, they are an excellent example of the strength of UK innovation.”
