Robotics Design Engineer

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Robotics Design Engineer to join our R&D team for a 6-month fixed-term contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a specific project in the development of our next-generation robotic hands and systems.

You will work with a high degree of autonomy, driving the project forward and collaborating directly with senior management.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and test complex electro-mechanical robotic systems.

Conduct rapid development and testing on proof-of-concept and prototype assemblies.

Contribute your expertise to advance our new dexterous hand products.

Troubleshoot and solve engineering problems throughout the design, manufacturing, and testing phases.

Participate in the specification and execution of hardware integration and testing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

A minimum of 4 years of commercial experience in robotics or a related field.

A strong background in both mechanical and electronic engineering.

Proficiency in at least one of MCAD (preferably Solidworks) and ECAD (preferably Altium).

Excellent knowledge and skills in C++ and Python, particularly in a Linux environment.

Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System).

Proven experience in designing, specifying, and assembling complex electro-mechanical systems.

A strong interest and, preferably, experience in designing, building, and developing robots.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent documentation skills.

Knowledge of surface mount PCB assembly and rework.

Personal Qualities:

A curiosity and enthusiasm for robotics and systems engineering.

A team-oriented attitude with a closer-finisher mindset.

Strong attention to detail and professional maturity.

Important Contract Information:

 

This role is likely to be determined as inside IR35 due to the nature of the working arrangements. This means PAYE tax and National Insurance contributions will be deducted at source before payment to your intermediary company.

 

Please note: This position is not suitable for recent graduates. We are currently unable to offer sponsorship for work permits.
